Today we took a trip down to Chichester to catch-up with Jason and Jill who run The Park Tavern on Priory Road. As well as a warm welcome, we were also presented with a cheque for £8,000 thanks to a year of fantastic fundraising from all the staff, customers, family and friends, all in aid of Dimbleby Cancer Care.
Events have included a Tough Mudder, a 50km walk and lots of fun fundraisers in the pub throughout the year. Barman ‘Peanut’ is currently on ‘Stoptober’ and as well as getting sponsorship for his month of not drinking, he’s also taking his mind off things with a flurry of baking which he is selling to the locals.
Landord Jason, 46, said: “The charity has such a special place in our hearts from all the support they have provided over the last few years, so it is great that all our accumulative efforts have paid off and we have raised such a great amount. We will always have a Dimbleby Cancer Care collection pot on the bar so hopefully the fundraising will continue for a while yet. We’re already thinking about doing the 50km walk again next summer.”
All the money raised goes towards Dimbleby Cancer Care‘s £500,000 Care For The Future appeal to support the cancer care services at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital.
