We’ve had quite a busy old week at DCC this week.

On Tuesday there was the very exciting result at Christie’s when David Dimbleby sold 2 paintings that been donated to him by Damien Hirst and reclusive artist Bambi. The pieces had been expected to fetch between £3-£5k and £1-£2k respectively, but amazingly sold for a combined total of £32,500. David is donating the proceeds to Dimbleby Cancer Care, with the charity expecting to recieve (after fees) in the region of £20,000. Not bad for an afternoon’s work!

Yesterday we met with Jonathan Dimbleby for a catch-up to discuss the future plans for the year ahead. Jonathan is set to take up the role of Chairman of DCC in the new year so there was plenty on the agenda and lots of work to be done in the coming months.

Part of that plan is to continue raising the profile of the charity and to that end we are currently planning a series of ‘DCC Awareness Days’ around Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals to promote the work of the charity and the services we support at GSTH. We are currently working with the GSTT Communications team, but watch this space and keep a look out for us if you are passing through either hospital in the coming month or so.

We have just approved the final draft for the next newsletter today as well, so it’s about to go off to print. We should have it available online next week, but in the meantime here is a sneak preview of the cover… we hope you like!
